In 2018, there were a total of 459 lateral attorney moves in Atlanta. 256 with Associate, 102 with Partner, 61 with Counsel and 40 with Attorney titles. The top five practices with the most movement are as follows:

Partner Highlights
Baker & Hostetler acquired six partners from LeClair Ryan and Morris Manning to strengthen their Labor & Employment and IP practices. Burr & Forman, an AmLaw 200 firm that rose up the ladder five slots last year, used laterals to spur growth, including a Bankruptcy and two Labor and Employment partners in Atlanta from Sites Harbison. Meanwhile, Squire Patton Boggs planted a flag in Atlanta with three partners from Dentons. The new office houses Corporate, Data Privacy and Litigation practices with an eye on expanding. Taylor English Duma surged in lateral partner growth in the back half of the year with ten lateral partners adding expertise to their IP, Real Estate, L&E, Litigation, Bankruptcy, Corporate and ERISA practices. Polsinelli welcomed four partners with specialties in IP, Bankruptcy and L&A from Bodker Ramsey, Dentons, Jackson Lewis and Ogletree in Q1 and Q2 of 2018 but lost three Health Care partners to Akerman in Q4. King & Spalding and Troutman Sanders both lured Litigation partners to their groups with Alston litigators joining King & Spalding and King & Spalding and Dentons partners joining Troutman Sanders.
